Yeah, so while I like to consider myself a supporter and lover of the arts, I would have to say in my opinion, performance art is near the bottom of the artistic food chain. This looks like bad performance art to me. Or perhaps a bunch of twats with too much time and money on their hands.
There’s a small part of me that can appreciate the performance and thought that perhaps if someone were to buy a piece of their “art” would they be continuing the performance with the act of purchasing? I also thought holy crap what a colossal waste of time and money. Is this some social commentary on our consumerist society or a bunch of hipster douche bags who think they are being terribly clever and ironic? Was this a way to raise money for the store owner for some reason? Whatever it was, they sure made his day!
And for the record, I think the very act of living in New York qualifies as performance art.
